In the early 1960s, the first mass-produced motorhomes started appearing. Some of the early models looked like a cross between a slide-in camper and a motorhome. These Class C motorhomes are constructed on a truck chassis. Fabricators ordered trucks without the traditional bed and added their own creation, a practice that is still done today. This rare 1963 Chinook is mounted on a Dodge chassis and is powered by a 318-cubic-inch engine. Owned by Walt Barnes. Photographed in Camp Dearborn, Michigan. |
