In the early 1920s, Mr. and Mrs. William H. Morgan were ready to take their ministry wherever they felt the need via their Boston-based Little Church on Wheels (founded in 1920). According to their brochures, they held free open-air gospel meetings every evening. Employing the latest technology, they used a Power Magnavox Amplifier hooked up to a Graphophone for musical accompaniment. On Sundays, the amplifier was used to enhance radio broadcasts. The tower and its electric cross were collapsible, which was necessary as early roadways had low bridges and underpasses. |
