In the early days of autocamping, manufacturers of beds for automobiles capitalized on the fact that they were more affordable than buying a tent or staying in a hotel. Auto beds came in a variety of configurations from hammocks that were suspended over the seats, boards that spanned the seats, and this 6-foot spring bed that must have required some modification of the automobile’s seats. The advertisement appeared in the March 1924 issue of Outdoor Life magazine. |
