This van on steroids is another fanciful creation of Finnish immigrant Antti Rahko. Antti fabricated this motorhome stretch van in 1995 from a standard issue 1984 GMC van by adding two more driven axels and more than doubling the length to 30 feet. The total assembly, which weighs in at 16,400 pounds, utilizes parts from over three dozen different vehicles. The van, which sleeps two, is a completely self-contained five-room home on wheels. The “rooms,” which include a driving compartment, eating area, kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom, are fitted with a variety of comforts, such as an electric range, refrigerator, microwave, grill, toilet, entertainment unit, three spare tires, 140 light bulbs, and 2 air conditioning systems.
But, the pièce de résistance is the tiny 8- x 5-foot trailer tagging along behind the van, which contains a necessity of life for any self-respecting Finn—a sauna.
